He accepted the role without reading the script. He had never heard of the character before coming close to the role. And were unaware that Hammer is an old man in the comic books.
Rockwell also starred in Martin McDonagh’s Seven Psychopaths (2012), and Nat Faxon’s, and Jim Rash’s The Way, Way Back (2013). His performance in The Way Way Back was felt by some critics. That he deserves an Academy Award nomination again. In August 2017 Rockwell was cast to play George W Bush in Edwell McKay’s vice, the Dick Cheney biopic.
