Stella Mae Parton was born in Sevierville, Tennessee. He is the sixth of 12 children born to Evie Lee Carolyn (née Owens; 1923–2003) and Robert Lee Parton Sr. (1921–2000). Career

In 1967, Parton released his first album, In the Garden. Soon, she moved to Washington, DC, and began performing at the Hillbilly Haven Club. Later moving to Nashville, he started his own record label, Soul, Country & Blues, in 1975 and released his first solo album, I Want to Hold You in My Dreams Tonight. Their title track was a significant national hit, ranking in the top ten in the country. The success of “I Want to Hold You in My Dreams Tonight” led him to a major-label deal with Electra in 1976.

Her 1977 duet with Carmol Taylor, “Neon Woman”, was somewhat of a success, and led to three of the top 20 hits. 1977–1978 with “The Danger of a Stranger”, “For Little Letters” and “Standard Lie Number One”; He scored additional top-40 hits in 1979 with his sister Dolly’s “Steady as the Rain”.
