Joy Alison Taylor was born on January 17, 1987, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to parents Georgia Taylor and Anthony Taylor. Similarly, Joy is American by nationality while her ethnicity is White.

Joy’s older brother, Jason, is a footballer who played defensive end and outside linebacker in the National Football League from 1997 to 2011. The Miami Dolphins were selected in the 1997 NFL Draft as the 73rd pick of the third round.
